Trevar Alan Chilver is a writer, director, actor and all-round nice guy now based in South Gippsland, Victoria. His plays have been produced as mainstage productions in Canberra and for festivals such as Short+Sweet in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Hollywood and London. He has been an avid supporter of the theatre community in Canberra, having run a community theatre organisation and written for Australian Stage, the Canberra Times and blogging regularly.
Trevar has directed productions for a number of Canberra companies, and occasionally treads the boards himself. He has appeared in a range of short film and television productions and in 2014, made his London debut with Prams in the Hall’s production of The Inner Life of Sophie Taylor. In 2015, his play The Ballad of Hobart Jones had a rehearsed reading as part of Actors and Writers London‘s autumn season.
A qualified teacher of drama and English, Trevar has worked in schools in Australia, the United Kingdom and East Timor. He has worked as a copy writer and communications specialist, supporting arts organisations such as choirs, galleries and theatres, and as a theatre producer and festival organiser. He is even an authorised marriage celebrant!
It’s a long list of achievements, but most of all, Trevar is a believer in the power of story to inspire and empower individuals to contribute to a more cohesive and collaborative society.
